Five Tips for Your First Pilates Class
A first class can feel a little daunting — which is completely normal. Here are five tips to make your start calmer and more enjoyable.
1. Wear something comfortable
Loose activewear that lets you move and feel at ease. You do not need to bring equipment — everything is here at the studio.
2. Arrive ten minutes early
Enough time to find your way around, settle your things, and walk into class unhurried.
3. Tell your trainer about any injury
Every movement has alternatives that suit your body — your trainer only needs to know.
4. Pay attention to your breath
In Pilates, breathing is half the exercise. Do not worry if you lose it now and then; it comes with practice.
5. Listen to your body
Do not measure yourself against anyone else. Every body starts where it is, and the journey matters more than the pace.
